Sylvia~Thank you for sharing your wonderful reflections on the week. There was so much to see, learn, and try. I appreciated your positive words of encouragement and sharing.
I came to CMK 08 from 2 weeks in Washington DC of non stop learning and vacation, which left me drained. This did not leave me prepared for what I was in for when I first met Gary . A genius, full of fire, that you need to be fully rested for. He was a great tour guide in Boston and the MIT museum was incredible. I think however, I put him over the deep end. :) Maybe he just rolls his eyes a lot at everything. As he would say... "so what?"... I loved the many things I learned through tinkering, filming, and observing. It took me a little bit to take my teacher hat off. Now I try to find every spare minute to tinker with my 12 year old on SCRATCH, Clay Animation, and Animationish. I can't wait to get some LEGO gear! We are having a lot of fun. This year's first grade class is the busiest in 18 years. They will need to tinker, process, and learn in a different way.
CMK 08 prepared me for them by reminding me of how important it is to play & dream.

Thank you Sylvia for posting your reflections. I am closer to being able to write about my reflection of CMK08. The environment was just as you stated and Gary's wonderful vision of what learning environments should look like enabled us to pursue and construct our own knowledge and understandings. I appreciated your role as part of that environment. Your were visible, but not ever in the way. You had plenty to do but were always willing to listen and encourage. You had lots of knowledge but always allowed me to discover what I knew. Please come back and do it again. It was wonderful.

Sylvia,
Reading your thoughts as an organizer, coach, and participant helped give me yet another perspective on the CMK08 experience. One of my great regrets of the week stems from being so involved in our project I didn't get to talk to more of the people there - you in particular. I hope to get more time to talk with you perhaps next year, or at another conference where we cross paths. Thanks again to you and the whole CMK08 team for creating such a rewarding and enlightening experience.
